O Horizon
O HORIZON reflects on the surprising contradictions of loss: the connection it can bring, and the way it can open us to love and to the evolution of our life in exciting and unexpected ways. The film centres around brilliant young neuroscientist Abby, who having recently lost her father, drowns her grief by spending all her waking hours in the lab with a monkey named ‘Dorey. One day, she chances across a shop advertising a new technology which allows people to converse with a digitised version of anyone they’d like – dead or alive, acquaintance or stranger – and soon discovers a way to reconnect with her beloved dad, Warren (David Strathairn). In revisiting such a seminal relationship, Abby finds herself forced to re-examine everything from her romantic relationships to her life’s work.
This will be Emmy award-winning screenwriter/director/producer Madeleine Sackler’s second narrative feature, following on from the success of her ground-breaking directorial debut ‘O.G.’ with HBO Films. The film was nominated for Best Narrative Feature at Tribeca Film Festival 2018 and lead actor Jeffrey Wright won the best actor category.
